I have a MAJOR sweet spot in my heart for New York City. Growing up (and still now) it's my mom's favorite place to visit. So I always knew there was something magical about it. I lived there for a hot second a couple years ago to study dance and give that "big city livin" a try. Aside from the weather, I absolutely love it there. I love the hustle and bustle. You're inspired absolutely everywhere you go. It's sensory overload in the best possible way.
So I decided that as a birthday present to myself, I'd take a little trip back! I got to see some of my favorite people ever/old roomies, go to 2 Broadway shows, take a dance class, explore, go to my FAVE bookstore (called The Strand and it's 18 miles of books!!!!), and eat all the brunch there was to eat (I literally had brunch every day I was there...)
I <3 NY!
My fave brunch was at this cute little French place called "Buvette." It's the perfect place for a long, leisurely brunch where you stay awhile and really enjoy your food and company. (Then, when you go downstairs to the restroom, you're basically transported to a wine cellar in France. *heart eyes*)
And you learn quickly in NY that any food can be delivered anywhere at anytime...especially when it's pizza or burgers to your apartment...
I saw Matilda and An American in Paris on Broadway. Both were absolutely INCREDIBLE.
"Should I sit here" ... "How's this pose?" ... "Maybe I'll look down this way." ... "Got the shot? Suh-weet!"
[I've known Cassie since I was about 6 years old. She's one of those forever kind of people. She and her hubs Adam are some of the loveliest humans I know. (He took all the good photos in this post, and I'm sad he's not in more of them!)]
New York was exactly what I needed. A change of pace. Something to shake things up a bit. I encourage you to shake it up too! Doesn't need to be extravagant, but something new/different to look at once in awhile will help keep you perpetually inspired. And maybe, just maybe, we can all be bi-coastal someday, and get the best of both worlds. haha! We can dream, right?
