Steampunk. The name in itself is enough to draw you in. This is one of the most well-known coffee shops in L.A. And for good reason. It's small, colorful, and crammed full of local art and people always.
This little gem is tucked away in North Hollywood (within walking distance from Cort's apartment, much to our liking), and has become one of our favorite spots for business meetings (aka brunch and coffee and talking about business a little bit). ;)
This place is as quirky and weirdly cute as it gets. It's cram packed (in the best way) with local art (that's for sale!), and the baristas really couldn't be any friendlier. But be prepared to wait. This place is small and so incredibly charming, and there is almost always a line. However, I can't tell you how worth the wait it is!
Steampunk offers a number of specialty drinks, along with flavorful twists on traditional, homestyle dishes like chicken & waffles, biscuits (cheddar and zucchini feta...I mean YUM) & jam, breakfast burritos, etc. They have a pretty substantial menu, which I LOVE, because rarely do I like to get the same thing twice!
Jenna and I have both tried the Iced Canela, one of their specialty house drinks, and it does not disappoint. This past time we decided to really indulge as far as brunch goes. I got the Biscuit Bowl- a house made biscuit, a choice of bacon or sausage (they have vegan and GF options too!), poached eggs, and a side of spinach or kale! Jenna got The Stack- waffles with their house vanilla syrup (again, are they even for real? holy delicious.), homestyle potatoes, buttermilk fried chicken with a cayenne maple aioli, and veggies. Needless to say, we were stuffed and insanely happy.
Conversation from our previous visit:
Jenna: "Ugh, it's the worst thing when you get syrup in your hair."
Cortney: "Or the best thing because it means you ate syrup that day."
Happy Brunching, loves!
Love & Lattes,
